We recommend meat thermometers with an overall score of 90% or more.

We measured each thermometer’s accuracy against our calibrated thermometer in a water bath and (for oven-proof models) a roast beef fillet. Since not all models are oven proof, we didn’t use the roast beef results as part of the overall score.

This overall score is comprised of accuracy (60%) and ease of use (40%).

We assessed each model for how easily we could read the controls, insert the probe into meat and clean the device after use.

'Tested model' indicates the model is still available in shops. 'Discontinued' models may still be available second hand or online.

This is the price paid in store in August-September 2018. There may be discounts available, so it pays to shop around.
